In January 2010, BFL and its community partners--Metropolitan Training Alliance (MTA), Construction Prep Center (CPC), Computer Village (CV), Angela M. Turner Consulting, Saint Louis County Missouri Career Center, The Coalition of Black Trade Unionists (CBTU), Sheet Metal Workers’ Local 36 and Abengoa Bio-Energy Corporation—were named by the US Department of Labor as one of 38 recipients awarded funding from the “Pathways Out of Poverty” training grant.
This grant allows us the opportunity to provide comprehensive workforce development services (i.e., educational and skill assessments, job training, transportation, legal services, etc.) and placement to qualifying individuals in green industry professions. Our goal is to train 900 individuals and place 700 into employment.
Our industry leading trainings prepare our clients for employment opportunities as Green Home Energy Auditors, Green Energy Efficiency Technicians, Heating, Ventilating, and Air Conditioning (HVAC) Technicians, Solar Photovoltaic (PV) Installers, LEED Green Associates, Biofuel Collection Technicians, Highway Construction Workers, and other energy industry professions.
